RAPTURE’S CHRISTIAN MUSIC MINISTRY Because of their love for music, local Valley girls Benita (Harvey) Ouellette (‘73), Lena Corriveau (‘79) and Marilyn (Gagnon) Ouellette started out together in the St. Louis Church (Fort Kent, ME) folk group and soon branched out singing at wedding ceremonies and created the group called “Rapture”. Enjoying their blended voices, many encouraged them to make recordings. However, at the time they only sang songs belonging to other artists, so the idea of recording was impractical. Although there was a strong desire, not one of the trio had yet been called to write her own music. Many years later, after sharing numerous trials together involving illness, family crises and the loss of many loved ones, Benita began writing inspired songs in her quiet moments. Encouraged by the idea of finally being able to record their own music, the group Rapture accepted the challenge to learn, sing and play the music a sound that only existed in the artist’s mind. Thankfully, faith and trust in the Lord gave them the strength to let Him work in them. Refusing to believe that these inspired songs, overflowing with hope and love from the Redeemer, would only be heard by a very few, they sensed a more meaningful purpose to this gift that came so unexpectedly. They are humbly grateful to the Father for allowing them the opportunity to share these simple heartfelt songs with others, hoping to allow Him to touch many lives. This gift has resulted in the release of the CD “Master of Our Lives” (2004), “Stop, Look, Listen” (2007) and most recently “In God’s Hands” released in November 2009. Their latest endeavor was to write and record the song for the Gagnon Family Reunion.
